Ruben Vardanian

Ruben Vardanian is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Troika Dialog Group. He has been working at Troika Dialog since it was founded and has been head of the company since 1992. Mr Vardanian is one of the leading figures on Russia’s capital markets, having played a key role in developing almost all segments of the country’s stock market. He is an active member of many respected business organizations, notably the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, where he sits on the Management Committee. He is also the Chairman of the organization’s Corporate Governance Committee and the Arbitrator of its United Committee on Corporate Ethics.
Since 2007, Mr Vardanian has been a Member of the Board of Directors of RusSpetsStal, a Member of the Board of Directors of URSA Bank, since 2006 – a Member of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of Strategy Committee of AK Bars Bank, since 2005 – the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, a Member of NOVATEK’s Board of Directors and the Chairman of the organization’s Corporate Governance and Compensation Committee. He was appointed CEO of Rosgosstrakh in 2002–2004 and was the Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors over 2004–05.
Mr Vardanian has been named "Businessperson of the Year" by the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia for his "significant contribution to business in Russia and commitment to the highest standards of business ethics". He was also named "Investment Banker of the Year" in RosBusinessConsulting’s annual "Person of the Year" award for 2003, while the Fortune magazine, in an article on the next generation of global leaders, named him one of its "25 Rising Stars" for 2001. Mr Vardanian has been ranked one of Russia’s top three business leaders by the National Association of Managers, while for 2004 he won Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in Russia and was named "Investment Banker of the Year" by NAUFOR. In 2006, Ruben Vardanian has been awarded "For special merits in the Russian business" by "ARISTOS", the joint award by National Managers Association and the Publishing House "Kommersant".
Ruben Vardanian is a Member of Investment Committee of the Russia New Growth Fund, the joint Private Equity Fund of Troika Dialog and Temasek Holdings, President of Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, a Member of the Russian branch of the Young Presidents' Organization, a Member of the Marsh & McLennan Companies International Advisory Board, a Member of the Coordination Board of the Armenia 2020 project. He is also Director of a fund established by the International Baccalaureate Organization to promote education worldwide, a Member of the Expert Council, Presidential Council for National Priority Projects and Federal Population Policies and a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Russian National Orchestra.
In 1992, Mr Vardanian graduated with a Distinction from the Economics Faculty of Moscow State University. He then went on to complete post-graduate training at BANCA CRT in Turin, Italy, and Merrill Lynch’s Emerging Markets Training Program in New York City in 1992. He has also completed courses at INSEAD (France) and Harvard Business School.
