Biography

Gen Richard L. Lawson, USAF (Ret.)

Gen Lawson retired from the United States Air Force after a distinguished career spanning four decades. He achieved a four-star rank, received 22 military awards and decorations, and served in the White House as the Military Assistant to President Gerald R. Ford. In his final military assignment, he served as the deputy commander in chief of the U.S. European Command.

Gen Lawson later served as president and CEO of the National Mining Association for 14 years. He continues to serve as vice chairman of the International Committee on Coal Research, on the board of directors of the U.S. Energy Association, and as vice chairman of the Atlantic Council.
