Biography

Rachel Fleishman

Rachel Fleishman is a Hong Kong-based writer and consultant.  Her work in Asia has focused on enabling think tanks and foundations to refine their mission, message and operations.  In 2008, she served as Recruitment Director for the Clinton Global Initiative Asia, attracting 200 top Asian chief executives and $180 million for new philanthropic programs.

Rachel has strong transatlantic credentials.  As Policy Director of the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU (AmCham EU) from 2003-2007, she directed and executed strategies to shape EU legislation on approximately 80 issues affecting U.S. businesses in Europe.  During this time, she bolstered the organization's CEO group and worked to establish AmCham EU as the most trusted source of facts and advice on transatlantic commerce.

Earlier in her career, Rachel led the Office of International Activities for the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Environmental Security).  In this role, she served as executive secretary for several NATO pilot studies on military environmental management and the security aspects of environmental degradation.  She also planned and produced the first classified and unclassified U.S. government conferences on environment, intelligence and security.

Rachel gained business experience at Sprint, where she worked in marketing, business development and B2B account management in the U.S. and Europe.

Rachel holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, where she was an Austin Scholar, and a Master's in Public Affairs from the University of Maryland.  She has been selected for several 'young leaders' programs in U.S. and transatlantic foreign policy, and is co-author of a play, Otherhood, performed in Memphis, Tennessee, in October 2008, revealing the trials and rewards of the lives of expat-trailing spouses.
