Biography

James Easaw

Commander James Easaw was a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council during 2009.

He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1988, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and was commissioned through the Navy's Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI. He then attended Surface Warfare Officer's School and performed his initial sea duty in USS Nashville deploying three times to the Mediterranean, Arabian Gulf and to the east and west coasts of Africa, to the Mediterranean in USS Monongahela and again in USS Enterprise during the early phase of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

He has served as a Special Assistant to Commander, Allied Joint Force Command Naples/Commander, Naval Forces Europe from 2003-2005. His most recent assignment was Program Analyst on the Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, DC.

He earned his Master's Degree in International Studies from the Graduate School of International Studies, University of Denver (1995) and has studied Security Policy at the George Washington University Elliot School of International Affairs and graduate economics at The American University in Washington, DC. He is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College Intermediate Level Education and Joint Multi-National Interagency Track Program (2003) and holds both Navy and Army Pol-Mil/Strategists sub-specialties.
