Biography

Erica McCarthy

Erica joined the Atlantic Council as Assistant Director of the Energy and Environment Program in 2007 after completing her M.A. in International Relations and Economics at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. Her concentration was on Eastern Europe and Russia, with a focus on the energy and environmental policies of the region. Erica wrote her thesis on Russia’s use of its energy supplies as a source of post-Soviet power, and the effects of such policies around the world. Before attending Maxwell, she graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY with a B.A. in International Studies. Erica comes to the Atlantic Council after periods in the New York State Legislature and the International Economic Development Council.
