The Atlantic Council shares the conviction that NATO remains relevant and capable of addressing the changing nature of threats to peace and security. It seeks to create a dialogue that reevaluates traditional security relationships with allies and adversaries in an effort to develop policy and strategy alternatives that influence NATO planning.

The Council also works to promote an understanding of the work and transformation of the Alliance in the United States and the Euro-Atlantic Community through public outreach, student programs, and parliamentary initiatives.

Projects

NATO - EU Relations — an assessment of NATO -EU relations and the prospects for future cooperation, including trips by small delegations of U.S. defense experts and former military officials to Europe for intense discussions with NATO and EU officials.

NATO Information Office — administered through the Program on Transatlantic Relations, the office seeks to promote an understanding and awareness of NATO in the United States.

Pan-Atlantic Student Summit — brings together students from throughout the Euro-Atlantic area to participate in a conference held in conjunction with official NATO summits.

Strengthening U.S. Security Alliances — while international alliances have long been the bedrock of U.S. security, growing threats to that security present difficult challenges for traditional approaches to military alliances.
