Russian Stock Market Climbs

Russian stock markets - MICEX and RTS - restarted today and climbed 23.1 and 15.5 percent respectively, reports CNN. Both indexes were closed on Wednesday after the MICEX suffered one-day losses on a scale not seen since Russia's 1998 financial collapse.

Trading has twice been halted on Russia's RTS and Micex indexes after huge falls triggered automatic suspensions, BBC reports.  Conversely, markets in Asia have rallied in the wake of news of a U.S. government rescue plan to shore up the crisis in that country's financial sector.
