Colonel Russel Grimley, United States Army
Colonel Russ Grimley was commissioned in 1984 as an artillery officer after graduating from Lafayette College with a degree in Spanish. His artillery experience includes service as a company fire support team chief, battery fire direction officer, battery executive officer, and battalion assistant operations officer at Fort Carson, Colorado, and as a custodial nuclear warhead battery commander in Phillipsburg, Germany. As a Eurasian Foreign Area Officer (FAO), he has served as the U.S. Defense Attaché to Armenia, a Presidential Translator on the Washington-Moscow Hotline, an Arms Control Inspection/Escort Team Chief with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, a Eurasia Program Manager with the USAREUR G3 International Operations Division, and as the Military Assistant to the Chief, Joint Implementation Commission, Headquarters, Kosovo Force (KFOR). Colonel Grimley’s education includes a Master of Arts in Russian, from the University of Oregon, and a Master of Arts and Science in Military Operational Art, in conjunction with the Air Command and Staff College program at Air University on Maxwell Air Base. He is fluent in Russian, German, and Spanish, and maintains conversational Armenian.
