Young Atlanticist

Launched at the at the 2008 NATO Summit in Bucharest, the Young Atlanticist Network brings together a community of emerging leaders who share a vision of closer Euro-Atlantic cooperation based on common values. Through online tools and regular events, the Young Atlanticist Network serves as a forum for open dialogue between young Atlanticists so they can exchange their views on a range of international issues. As a meeting place, the Network serves as a stage for global leaders to address the next generation and to share the perspective on current issues. Members of the Young Atlanticist Network enjoy opportunities to connect with other young professionals who share common professional interests.

Warsaw Transatlantic Forum

On March 12th and 13th, leading policy makers from Poland, the United States, and greater Europe convened in Warsaw for the launch of the Warsaw Transatlantic Forum. This major initiative recognized 10 years of NATO membership for Poland as well as 20 years of democratic progress since the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Young Atlanticist Day

On March 12th, students and young leaders at the University of Warsaw will discuss and debate central issues of the Atlantic Community during Young Atlanticist Day.  Reaching out to other young leaders in Washington DC, Kyiv and Kabul, they will share their perspectives on new security threats and the prospects for a more peaceful and prosperous future.

A half-day student conference hosted by Americans for Informed Democracy and The Atlantic Council brought together young global leaders from across the U.S. for workshops, speakers, and discussions on whether and how the transatlantic community can work together to build effective international laws and institutions. On Thursday, May 3rd, the Atlantic Council was honored to host Vaira Vike-Freiberga, President of the Republic of Latvia, for a webcast discussion with students in Washington DC and on campuses across United States.  As President Vike-Freiberga addressed students at the Council, students on campuses across the US participated in a live webcast, submitting questions to the President.

Riga Young Leaders Forum builds bridges with NATO leaders

From November 27 – 29, 2006, forty-nine young leaders from thirty-two states examined the agenda of the 2006 Riga NATO summit and offered their solutions to regional and global security problems. Representing countries in the Alliance, the Partnership for Peace, Mediterranean Dialogue, and other nations like Afghanistan and Australia, the successor generation of the Alliance shared their views and experiences on nation-building in Afghanistan, NATO’s Partnerships, NATO’s relationship with Russia, NATO’s enlargement and energy security.
