Office of Development and External Relations

The Office of Development and External Relations (OER) serves a primary role at the Atlantic Council in the areas of media relations, membership, development, event planning, and public relations.  OER maintains daily communication with the Atlantic Council Board of Directors, the International Advisory Board, the Strategic Advisors Group, individual members, corporate members and sponsors.  The Office also plays a lead role in the organization of major headline events at the Council, such as the annual Distinguished Leadership Awards Dinner, the Global Leadership Series and the annual Christopher J. Makins lecture, which bring leading policy makers and international leaders, including current and former heads of State and Government to Washington on a frequent basis.  In its capacity as the lead division for development, OER plays a crucial role in sustaining financial support for the work of the Council by reaching out to leading foundations, companies, and individuals who are committed to our work.  As the primary contact for press and media, the Office provides information and resources regarding Atlantic Council events and publications to news outlets worldwide.
