Jason Healey Testifies Before US-China Economic and Security Review Commission

March 26, 2012
Highlight - Healey

Jason Healey, director of the Atlantic Council's Cyber Statecraft Initiative, alongside Richard Bejtlich of Mandiant and Nart Villeneuve of Trend Micro, testified before the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission concerning developments in China’s cyber capabilities on March 26, 2012 at George Mason University.

In his testimony, Jason lauded the US government for finally moving towards solutions to combating widespread Chinese cyber espionage. However, it remains unclear if we are moving in the right direction if the threat is indeed "the biggest transfer of wealth through theft and piracy in the history of mankind," as expressed by General Alexander of Cyber Command.

Jason highlighted "four silences" of the US government.  Until we break this silence – rooted in overclassification – the United States may be driving itself towards defeat.
