NATOSource: German contribution to the NATO Response Force

From defpro.com: The Bundeswehr contributes with some 2,900 soldiers to the meanwhile 13th cycle of the NATO Response Force (NRF), the rapid deployment force of the Alliance with a current strength of approximately 17,000 soldiers.

This commitment comprises allmost every service and organisational section of the Bundeswehr: The Air Force (Luftwaffe) provides six Tornado fighter aircraft, two Transall transport aircraft as well as air defence and installations protection forces. The Navy contributes with a frigate and a anti-mine warfare unit. The Joint Support Service (Streitkräftebasis) provides military police forces, command support and parts of a logistics battalion. The medical service provides medical assistance in potential military operations.

All NRF 13 forces will on short notice readiness form July 2009 to January 2010. Spread over a period of time within 5 to 30 days, the Response Forces is supposed to be deployable to any location worldwide for a minimum of 30 days.
