Job Description and Requirements
The Development Assistant provides support to the Office of Development and External Relations (OER) in all development and operational activities.
Summary of Duties
General Support & Administration
- Provide support to the VP of Development and External Relations
- Frequent phone interaction and email correspondence with members
- Administering financial arrangements for membership and events
- Manage/update Relationships Database
- Supervising intern(s), including hiring and training
- Other duties as assigned
Event Support
- Supports the Office of External Relations in organizing special events, as required (ie Awards Dinner, Board Dinner, Global Leadership Series, etc.)
- Research speakers, participants and suggest guest lists for events
- Manage all aspects of in-house events
- Assist with fundraising
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2+ years related administrative experience, non-profit experience preferred
- Proficiency in database management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet firm deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team oriented environment
- Flexible schedule to accommodate early morning and evening events when necessary

- Superior communication skills, verbal and written

Executive Assistant to President and CEO
Job Description and Requirements
Excellent opportunity for an exceptionally organized, sophisticated, computer savvy office administrator with research skills and a deep knowledge of, and interest in, international relations. Journalism experience and/or German language ability a plus.
Summary of Duties
Administrative
- Build and maintain contacts database
- Organize executive travel and schedule
- Organize management lunches, dinners and meetings
- Design and maintain comprehensive filing system
- Set up office system for tracking multiple projects
- Coordinate with External Relations department on Board related administrative tasks
- Draft, edit and proofread correspondence
- Generate cover letters and formal correspondence
- Coordinate CEO's media appearances
- Manage some mass mailings and email campaigns
Research Related
- Regular background research on speakers, CEO’s, and public figures
- Background research for speeches and articles
- Some historic research for special projects
- Write summaries of research findings
- Condense research materials into digestible written form
Qualifications
- BA or MA in international relations or related field
- Working knowledge of non profit or basic office operations
- Demonstrated research and writing skills
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Superior Internet research skills
- German language skills especially helpful
- Working knowledge and familiarity with budgets and spreadsheets with ability to create as well as interpret them
- Excellent telephone presence
- Willingness to work on emergency basis late evenings or weekends if needed

Transatlantic Relations
Job Description and Requirements
The Atlantic Council of the United States seeks a talented, entrepreneurial
thinker and manager to develop its business and economic-oriented projects.
A major task will be to launch a new study group of business and economic
policy experts that will provide cutting edge analysis of transatlantic
economic and business developments.
The successful candidate will have a central role in developing new business
and economic policy projects ranging from monitoring and analyzing news
events of importance to a transatlantic business audience to launching a
business leaders’ speaker series. Issues to be covered will include
transatlantic trade and investment, regulatory policy, financial markets and
services, competition policy, privacy, intellectual property rights, and
other concerns of interest to the business and economic policy communities.
The successful candidate for this position will have excellent managerial
and communication skills, a record of initiative and accomplishment, and a
proven aptitude for business and regulatory issues. She/he should think
creatively about how to strengthen outreach to the corporate and policy
communities.
The director for Business and Economics will report to the director of the
Transatlantic Relations program and will have the following
responsibilities:

Primary staff support for a high-level transatlantic advisory group: serve as primary liaison with members; identify relevant issues; develop follow-on activities; and organize program for annual meeting.

Coverage of business and economic issues and related outreach: exercise substantive oversight of website and other products; write short articles/op-eds/policy statements; and develop outreach to other business groups, the policy community, and the public.

Program development and fundraising: conceptualize and develop new programs that reflect concerns of the transatlantic business and economic policy community; identify and approach potential funders; develop high-impact dissemination strategies for products; manage relations with funders and other partners.

General management: oversight of events, budget, general administration of program.
Qualifications for the position:

MBA or a Master’s degree in a relevant field, with 5-6 years work experience preferred

Extensive experience in program management, preferably in a non-profit or association environment

Superior writing/communication skills; willingness to experiment in outreach methods

Demonstrated track-record in fundraising, including from corporate donors

Experience in the business community; awareness of business priorities

Superb people skills; must be able to work well with both interns and senior officials

Serious expertise and interest in transatlantic business and economics
