Transatlantic Climate Solutions

February 23, 2009
Transatlantic Climate Bridge

On February 23, the Atlantic Council hosted a luncheon with the German Ambassador Klaus Scharioth to discuss Germany's ambitious plan to combat climate change, the Transatlantic Climate Bridge.  The initiative was launched in September 2008 by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

In an off-the-record roundtable conversation, Ambassador Scharioth addressed many of the initiative's core proposals, including the establishment of a U.S.-EU forum for energy technology cooperation, the linking of U.S. and European emissions trading systems, and better practices for concerted action.
