Strategy Session with EU Ambassador to United States

Almeida (EU ambassador to US) strategy session

On Thursday, August 5th, the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Relations Program hosted João Vale de Almeida, the new Head of the European Union Delegation to the United States, for a frank off-the-record strategy session with Council board members and other senior level representatives from the transatlantic community.

Discussions with the first European Union ambassador to the U.S. focused on ways of strengthening the U.S.-EU relationship through cooperation in key areas such as financial and economic regulation, how the U.S. and EU can work together to address global challenges, and other key issues, including NATO-EU cooperation and the prospects Turkish accession to the European Union.
