Iraq and the Future of Stability and Reconstruction Operations

The Atlantic Council's International Security Program hosted Stuart Bowen, the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, for a discussion about the lessons learned in Iraq by the U.S. and allies on the future of stability and reconstruction operations.

Following an introduction from Atlantic Council International Advisory Board chairman Brent Scowcroft, Bowen offered suggestions for reform within the U.S. government and interagency drawing on experiences in Iraq.  Frank Kramer, Vice Chair of the Atlantic Council, also discussed how the U.S. can improve cooperation with its international partners in stability and reconstruction operations.  Fred Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council, moderated the following Q&A session.

U.S.-Iran Relations: Best-Case Scenario

A panel of Iran experts addressed the "best-case scenario" for U.S.-Iran relations at the Atlantic Council.  Dr. Kenneth Katzman, a Middle East scholar at the Congressional Research Service, presented his Atlantic Council-commissioned Compendium of Policies, Laws and Regulations that govern U.S. relations with Iran, and the discussion followed.
