On Tuesday, June 29, the Atlantic Council’s South Asia Center hosted a roundtable discussion with Dr. Arvind Virmani, Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Dr. Virmani discussed the variety of factors behind India’s surging economic growth. His recently published book, entitled The Sudoku of India's Growth, examines these increasingly prominent issues using empirical analysis and historical perspective. Shuja Nawaz, Director of the Atlantic Council's South Asia Center, provided the introduction.

More on Dr. Arvind Virmani:

Dr. Virmani is currently Executive Director at the IMF. Previously, he served as Chief Economic Advisor for the Department of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Finance for the Government of India. Prior to his joining the government, he worked with the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), and numerous other companies in the private sector. Dr. Virmani's areas of expertise include macroeconomics of growth, international trade and tariffs, credit markets, international relations and global security.
