Bulgarian Minister Traykov: Growth, Energy, and Sustainability in Bulgaria and the Region
April 05, 2010Traycho Traykov, Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, of Bulgaria joined the Atlantic Council on April 5 for a Roundtable on Growth, Energy, and Sustainability in Bulgaria and the Region. Minister Traykov addressed challenges and opportunities on the economy, with particular focus on markets and on the energy sector. He also offered assessments of prospects of growth and sustainable energy, the status of markets, renewable energy initiatives, and the outlook of important projects in Bulgaria, such as the Nabucco Pipeline Project and the EU-backed interconnections to Greece, Romania, Turkey, and Serbia. Frederick Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council, moderated the roundtable. The event is part of the Eurasia Discussion Series.
Minister Traykov also participated in last month's Sofia Energy Roundtable hosted by the Atlantic Council.

Minister Traykov:
Minister Traykov has expert knowledge in the area of corporate management, restructuring and turnaround. His professional career started as a merger and acquisition consultant at the UK strategic and financial advisory firm Central Europe Trust. He has taken part in a series of projects in Central and Eastern Europe, such as the privatisation of Electrica Oltenia and Electrica Moldova by the Romanian Electricity Holding, development of business strategy for Eastern Electricity (UK) for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, strategic consulting projects in Hungary, sell-side advisory to the Serbian Privatisation Agency pool Machinebuilding, and others. In 2004 he joined the German company Roland Berger- one of the world leaders in strategic consulting.
