AGOA Africa Women’s Entrepreneurship Program

August 03, 2010

On August 3rd, Dr. Nancy J. Walker, Director of the Atlantic Council's Ansari Africa Center, participated as a member of the host committee for a luncheon in honor of 39 women business leaders from Africa, as part of the AGOA Africa Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP). The event was hosted by the Corporate Council of Africa at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The AGOA Africa Women's Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP) is a unique leadership program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State coinciding with the 2010 AGOA Ministerial Forum. The U.S. Department of State has carefully selected 39 women business leaders to represent each of the countries eligible to benefit from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which was signed into law by President Clinton on May 18, 2000.
