Biography

Brooke R. Heaton

Brooke Heaton joined the Atlantic Council in 2006 and is currently the Associate Director of Young Atlanticist Programs. Prior to joining the Council, he attended the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, Austria, from 2003 to 2005, earning a master's of Advanced International Studies. His thesis work focused on the regulation of Genetically Modified Organisms in the European Union and the United States. In addition to his studies, Mr. Heaton was active in planning various public and student activities, including founding and running the Vienna Chapter of Americans for Informed Democracy. Prior to his studies at the Diplomatic Academy, he worked as a Study Abroad Advisor at the Office of International Programs at the University of Minnesota and as a Student Assistant at the Institute of European Studies in Vienna, Austria. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Heaton also holds a graduate Diploma from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and a B.A. in Political Science from Grinnell College. He speaks fluent German.
