Young Atlanticists in Berlin: U.S. Delegation to the 54th ATA General Assembly
November 10, 2008The Council assembled an outstanding delegation of young professionals and students to attend the Atlantic Treaty Association's 54th General Assembly in November. Joining Council Assistant Director Brooke Heaton and Fran Burwell, 20 passionate young leaders from across the country including Fulbright program scholars, the Central European University, Virginia Tech, Nazareth College, Georgetown University among others took part in the fantastic program focused on NATO's current priorities and challenges. The Young Atlanticists were addressed in keynote speeches from German Angela Merkel, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, US Ambassador to NATO Kurt Volker, Heat of NATO Policy and Planning Jamie Shea, former Inspector General of the German Armed Forces Dr. H.C. Klaus Naumann, Russian Ambassador to the NATO Dmitry Rogozin and many other renowned experts and policy makers. The U.S. delegation looks forward to continuing their collaboration in the future with particularly emphasis in joint activities in Europe.
