Bombing in Pakistan Kills at Least 40 People

Neil Richard Leslie | September 20, 2008

At least 40 people have been killed in a bomb attack on the Marriot Hotel in Islamabad, reports BBC. Police estimate that the blast, which destroyed the entire front section of the building, was caused by more than a tonne of explosives. It is thought that a suicide bomber drove a truck into the front of the hotel. The attack comes only hours after President Asif Ali Zardari said that neither terrorists nor any foreign power would be allowed to violate Pakistani territory.
