Joe Snyder

Joseph Snyder joined the Atlantic Council in 2007 following many years as a career State Department diplomat, with several postings in Asia and Europe, and most recently having served as Executive Director of the Asia Society Washington Center from 2002 to 2007.  Prior to that, Mr. Snyder was President of the American Australian Association in New York from 1998 to 2002. He served for thirty years as a Foreign Service officer in the U.S. Department of State, with positions in American diplomatic and consular missions in Thailand, Iran, Taiwan, Malaysia and Austria. In Washington, Joseph Snyder headed the State Department Press Office and acted as Department Spokesman. He also directed the Department's Office of United Nations Political Affairs.
