John R. Lyman

John R. Lyman, a member of the board of the Atlantic Council, was named co-director of the Energy, Environment and Economics Program on January 1, 2005 following more than 15 years of involvement with the program. In addition, he continues to serve as principal rapporteur of the projects on China-India-Japan-U.S. Cooperation to Promote Clean Air in Asia and A Marshall Plan for Energy and Water Supply in Developing Countries. In 1980, Mr. Lyman joined Amoco Corporation where he held assignments involving worldwide responsibilities as assistant treasurer (long-term financing), general manager, Auditing, vice president, Information Services and vice president, Planning, Economics & Development. In 1990 he was named vice president, Planning and Administration. In the late 1990s he served as vice president of Mercer Management Consulting and consultant with Integrated Economic Solutions, who specializes on environmental matters. He was also a founding director of the U.S. National Lekotek, which provides resources and counseling to the families of children with special needs and has served as a director of the National Council on Economic Education. He received a Masters degree in Industrial Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1963 and a BA from Yale in economics in 1961.
