* Haqqani was appointed by the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani coalition government on April 3, 2008. Until recently, he was the director of the Institute for International Relations at Boston University. Haqqani is a leading journalist, diplomat, and former advisor to Pakistani Prime Ministers. He is a writer, syndicated columnist and frequent commentator on Pakistan, South Asian affairs, Afghanistan and Islamic politics and radicalism.
